This semester marks an exciting new chapter as we begin working with students at Midland College. There's something special about stepping onto a new campus and meeting students who are hungry for community, purpose, and truth. The energy and openness I've encountered here has been incredible, and I'm excited to share what God is already doing.

Connecting with new students at Midland College and building community together

From the moment we started setting up tables and having conversations on campus, I could sense that students at Midland College are looking for something more than just classes and social events. They're asking big questions about life, purpose, and faith. They want to know if there's a place where they can be real, ask hard questions, and find genuine community.

Meeting New Students

The first few weeks have been filled with meaningful conversations. I've met students who are exploring faith for the first time, others who grew up in church but are trying to figure out what it means to follow Jesus in college, and some who are just curious about what we're doing. Each conversation has been a reminder of why we do this work—students need a place where they can be honest about their questions and find people who care about them.

One student shared with me that they had been praying for a community like ours but didn't know where to find it. They had been feeling isolated and were looking for friends who would encourage them in their faith journey. That conversation reminded me that God is already at work, preparing hearts and drawing students to Himself.

Building Community Together

What I love most about campus ministry is watching community form naturally as students connect with each other. We've started weekly gatherings where students can come together for worship, teaching from God's Word, and time to just hang out and get to know each other. It's been beautiful to see friendships forming and students encouraging one another.

We're also launching small groups where students can dive deeper into Scripture, pray together, and support each other through the challenges of college life. These smaller settings create space for authentic relationships and spiritual growth. Students are already stepping up to lead and serve, which shows me that God is building something special here.

The Impact We're Seeing

Even in these early days, I'm seeing God move in powerful ways. Students are asking thoughtful questions about faith, they're showing up consistently to our gatherings, and they're inviting their friends. There's a hunger for truth and a desire to grow that's inspiring to witness.

One of the most encouraging things has been seeing students take ownership of the ministry. They're not just showing up—they're investing, serving, and thinking about how to reach their peers. That's when you know God is building something that will last beyond just this semester.

What's Next

As we continue to build relationships and grow this community, I'm excited to see what God has in store. We're planning outreach events, service opportunities, and deeper discipleship for students who want to grow in their faith. The foundation we're laying now will impact students for years to come.
