Over the summer of 2025, I had the privilege of serving at Every Nation Youth Camp (ENYC). I have so many fun memories from the week.

There are two moments from camp I want to highlight: what happened with Remington, and going bald for camp points with my students.

Remington

On the bus ride to Glorieta, New Mexico, I tried talking to the 10th-grade boys. Remington and Brady, sitting in the very back, gave short, shy answers. I figured they were nervous and might stay in their shells all week.

The next day, before dinner, we started chatting about overcoming social anxiety. I shared how God helped me with my own struggles. Both boys were grateful. I felt the Holy Spirit lead me to pray for chains to be broken off them—it was a powerful moment.

We missed dinner, so we grabbed snacks and headed into worship. During the leader prayer time, Remington came up and told me his dad, grandpa, and uncle had recently passed away. He was mad at God for letting it happen.

I cried with him. I told him it's okay to wrestle with God, but God is always good and sovereign. We both cried, prayed for repentance from hardening hearts, and let the Holy Spirit heal in that moment. It was truly beautiful.

On the last day we ran the Warrior Dash—a race full of puzzles and challenges. Our team built a human pyramid at the end, exploded the confetti cannon, and won!

But right after, Remington had passed out on the ground. We called a medic, poured ice water on his face, and he woke up.

He looked at me and said, "I saw my dad." He told me he had a conversation with his dad. His dad told him to go back and pushed him—that's when the ice water hit.

After camp, I got the honor of baptizing Remington!

I Went Bald for Camp Points

I was on the Dominican Republic team and we were losing, so to get extra points I had the top of my scalp shaved completely bald—back and sides still there.

It was crazy, but I was all in for my students. Looking back, I probably shouldn't have done that, but it showed all my guys that I care and helped me get closer to them. We ended up winning because of it—and it only took a few months to grow back.

What an unforgettable summer! God really showed me that kids in high school have a genuine passion for Jesus, and it's so important as a leader to be the light in their lives directing them towards Jesus in every way.

Moments like this remind me why I'm so invested in reaching the next generation—and that includes students on college campuses too.
